STELLA PG MATHEMATICS: DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES 2018-19

SOFT TOY MAKING

Ø The Department organized a certificate course in “Soft Toy Making” in collaboration with Jana Shikshana Samasthan, Govt. of India.

40 students belonging to M.Sc Mathematics and M.A English Literature were given hands on training by Mrs. Vani Varadhi, in making the following soft toys :

ü Teddy bear

ü Puppy

ü Panda

ü Monkey and

ü Rabbit.

The certificate course consisted of 30 hours and the classes were from 10.09.18 to 12.10.18.

INMO EXAMS

Ø The Department conducted the following exams as part of Regional Mathematical Olympiad programme.

ü Pre RMO-2018 on 19.08.18 at Maris Stella College, Vijayawada from 10.00–1.00 p.m.

ü RMO-2018 on 07.10.18 at Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada from 1.00 – 4.00 p.m.

ü INMO will be held on 20.01.19 at Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada from 12.00 – 4.00 p.m.

APTSMS CONFERENCE

Ø The Department organized the Annual Congress of APTSMS and National Conference on “Recent Trends in Mathematics” from 08.12.2018 to 10.12.2018. During the course of the conference 11 endowment lectures and invited talks were delivered.

INMO WORKSHOP

Ø The Department organized INMO Training Workshop for students selected in RMO -2018 from 27.12.2018 to 31.12.2018 at Maris Stella College. The following were the resource persons for the wokshop from University of Hyderabad:

ü Prof.Rajat Tandon,

ü Dr.T.Suman Kumar and

ü Mr.T.Rahul Chakravarthy.

In the morning session lectures were delivered on Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory and Combinatorics and in the afternoon problem solving sessions were conducted.
